My phone can’t find my computer. What next?+
The current quick installer disables automatic discovery by default. Enter your computer’s local network IP address and port (8000 by default) in the phone app. Both devices must be on the same network, and the computer’s firewall must allow access from your home network. Do not enter localhost on your phone; that refers to the phone itself.

Bring photos from an existing hard drive
Once your computer and phone account are set up, download the importer. Extract and open it, sign in with your existing account, select a photo folder, and start importing.
Both. Your computer stores the originals; the phone app transfers and browses your photos. Start with the desktop instructions in the installation section on this page, then get the phone app.
Do I have to do something every day?+
Your computer needs to be on and reachable to receive backups. Phone operating systems limit background activity. For your first or a large backup, keep the app open and check completion; installing the app alone does not mean your photos are backed up.
Can I delete photos from my phone afterward?+
Check backup status, open the files on your computer, and keep another independent copy of important photos before removing phone originals. Start with a small batch while you learn the process.
What if my computer breaks?+
Local storage is not a guarantee against loss. Drives can fail and files can be accidentally deleted. Regularly copy important photos to a separate drive and check that those files open correctly.
Does my computer need to be on to view photos?+
To access originals stored on your computer, it must be on and reachable. Offline browsing on your phone depends on what the app has cached; do not assume every original is available offline.
